Have Fun at Mukilteo’s Lighthouse Festival
Posted on August 31, 2010 · Leave a CommentThe Lighthouse Festival Parade is one of Mukilteo’s most coveted events and is always a big deal within the town and the residents at Bay Court at Harbour Pointe.
Taking place on September 11th from 10:30am to 1:00pm, the parade will include several closures in the Harbour Pointe area, including the road right outside of our community. That being said, be sure to plan ahead if you want to get around the town during the festival’s parade.
Where exactly will the parade be taking place? It starts on the corner of Chennault Beach Rd and Harbour Pointe Boulevard. It will proceed northeast to the intersection of Harbour Pointe Blvd and 47th Place West and then will end after turning onto 47th Place West.
So be sure to keep the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival Parade on your calendar! We hope everyone enjoys the long Labor Day Weekend and we will see you on September 11th for the parade!
Homeward Bound: Adopt A Pet!
Posted on August 26, 2010 · Leave a CommentHas your family been wanting to add a furry friend to the family? Maybe you are living solo and want some companionship. Whatever you reason for wanting to get a pet, you can find that cat or dog without going to a breeder or store. There are A LOT of great pets out there who need good homes, and with such a large influx of homeless animals, it’s a sensible option.
Homeward Pet Adoptions, located in Woodinville, is one of the largest no-kill shelters in the state of Washington. 60% of the animals come from shelters that euthanize, and 40% are from owner surrenders. Every year they rescue and adopt out 1,500 cats and dogs and give them to warm and loving homes. The shelter continues to grow with 200+ volunteers and a small staff of 15.
This is a great place to begin your search for a new fuzzy friend. Even if you can’t take on the responsibility of a pet, volunteering is an excellent way to get involved in your community and help out in the process.
Check out the website and look further into their cause. Homeward Pet Adoptions is located 20 mins. from Bay Court at Harbour Pointe. They are located at 18800 Woodinville Snohomish Road in Woodinville.
Sabor a Mukilteo
Posted on August 25, 2010 · Leave a CommentWhether you’re trying to impress a client or that special someone in your life, the best impression goes a long way. And why not start by taking them out to a great restaurant? Sabor a Mexico, located in Mukilteo, serves up the best authentic Mexican food for miles!
The menu has an excellent selection of Tapas, combination, and seafood dishes to choose from. For starters, try the Taquitos stuffed with beef or chicken and served up on a bed of lettuce with sides of guacamole & sour cream. For the main dish, try the Chile Verde that comes stuffed with Pork with Light Green Tomato salsa. They also have smaller combination dishes for light eaters and children dishes for around $5. You can find a selection of beers, both Mexican and domestic, that pairs wonderfully with your main course.
If there is room for dessert, I recommend the Deep Fried Ice Cream served with cinnamon, whipped cream and strawberries.
Sabor a Mexico is located just 7 mins. away from Bay Court at Harbour Pointe, so it’s not too far out of the way. For more information, be sure to visit their website or call them at (425) 710-9094.

Enjoy One of the Northwest’s Best Golf Courses
Posted on August 13, 2010 · Leave a CommentJust outside of Mukilteo (and very close to our community at Bay Court) lies one of the best golf courses in the entire Northwest region, but have you played a round there before?…
The Harbour Pointe Golf Club has been around since the early 1990s (when it won its first award) and it still remains one of the highlights of Washington when it comes to playing a nice round of golf. Maybe it’s the first 9 holes that have water on every single hole, or perhaps the back 9 with its rolling hills and stunning scenery that brings its patrons back again and again.
There always seems to be something going on at Harbour Pointe, including golf tournaments and various types of outings. If you’re interested in playing here, their green fees are posted on their website along with other valuable information.
Have you ever played a round of golf at Harbour Pointe Golf Club? Tell us how your experience was by leaving a comment!

Swim Instructor needed…
Posted on August 11, 2010 · Leave a CommentSWIMMING INSTRUCTOR NEEDED
I need my 10 year old AUTISTIC nephew to learn to swim. He is High Functioning and has been introduced to water lately and just loved it. Unfortunately, discovering water has now added a real danger to him because he has no fear and doesn’t understand the deep end from the shallow end of the pool. We can use the pool next to the fitness center. Please email me at bigjimal@gmail.com or call me at 425-442-4186. Sam is a very pleasant young man and just needs a compassionate individual that can be patient.
The schedule would be around 4:00 in the afternoon once a week in August and September.
He May Be Grouchy, But the Food is Worth It!
Posted on August 10, 2010 · Leave a CommentIf you were a fan of Seinfeld, you may remember a character that was referred to as “The Soup Nazi.” He was one of the most memorable characters of the show with his “No soup for you!” line and his knack for being an angry chef helped spark the notion that being a demanding, tedious and frustrated chef can be a good thing.
The Soup Nazi may have been just a tertiary character on a TV sitcom, but his foibles and off-putting personality has helped one chef in the Mukilteo area create one of the best and most talked-about dining experiences in the city….
Meet Takayuki Masumoto, The Grouchy Chef. His mannerisms mimic that of The Soup Nazi, where there are a set of rules and standards one must abide by once they enter the restaurant. The first is you MUST have a reservation. Of course, he will accept walk-ins, but don’t expect kind words from the man if that is the case. Another rule is it is cash only. No checks or major credit cards are accepted so come prepared! A third rule is to “focus on the food.” Many patrons say that talking loudly disturbs and distracts Masumoto, so if you feel like having a conversation, use your inside voice….
Eating at The Grouchy Chef may be a daunting task, but pretty much every customer will agree that eating here is worth the hassle. The food is delicious and is extremely cheap for what you get, which is what makes this place so special.
If you haven’t been to The Grouchy Chef, it is located at 4433 Russell Rd #113 in Mukilteo (only a few miles from Bay Court). If you have visited the restaurant, tell us about your experience!
“The Other Guys” Hits Theaters This Weekend
Posted on August 5, 2010 · 1 CommentThe newest rag-tag duo to come out of Hollywood this summer is none other than actors Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg with the latest comedy from director Adam McKay.
The Other Guys will be in wide release come tomorrow (August 6th) and the movie is being met with positive reactions from critics and moviegoers alike, according to movie-review site Rotten Tomatoes.
Most of the comedies that have come out this year have been mediocre or decent at the the most, so many people who go to the theaters for a good laugh will have high hopes for this one, as the combination of Ferrell and McKay have previously led to some phenomenal comedy films (i.e. Anchorman and Talldega Nights).
If you’re planning on seeing The Other Guys this weekend, the closest theater to our community here at Bay Court at Harbour Pointe would be the AMC Loews Alderwood 16 in Lynnwood.
Seattle Knows Coffee!!
Posted on August 2, 2010 · Leave a CommentAnd of course, our town of Mukilteo is no exception to that fact!! There are some great places near our community here at Bay Court at Harbour Pointe that house some of the best coffee and tea concoctions on the west coast.
Of course, there’s the obvious choices of a nearby Starbucks or Seattle’s Best coffee shops, but what about the ones that aren’t necessarily known nationwide?
One great cafe is Zippy’s Java Lounge located on Hewitt Avenue. Recently celebrating its 5th anniversary, the cafe has become a great place that the locals tend to flock to. Another great cafe is Whidbey’s Coffee Company on 4th Street in downtown Mukilteo. Being in the Seattle area for over 20 years now, Whidbey’s has made quite a name for themselves by making some of the northwest’s best coffee.
There’s pretty much a coffee shop or cafe or bakery on nearly every corner in the state of Washington, so it’s not hard to find a good place to get some good coffee.
So which local cafe in the Mukilteo area do you typically frequent? Let us know by leaving a comment!
